Safety Is Important!

Your garage door is the largest moving object in your home which makes safety extremely important!  Proper installation, operation, testing & maintenance of the garage door and opener are necessary to provide safe, trouble-free operation.  An improperly adjusted door or garage door opener can exert deadly force when closing.  This could lead to serious injury or even death from being hit by the door or from being trapped underneath the door.

June is Garage Door Safety Month!  Below are our Top 5 Safety Tips:

1) Don’t remove your operator’s red emergency release handle.  This device is required by law for the purpose of disengaging the operator in emergencies, such as a child being trapped under the door.

2) Add a motion-sensing exterior light outside your garage.  This will make it less likely for unwanted guests to enter your garage at night.

3) At least annually, contact a professional door dealer to inspect your garage door system.  A short inspection can save you headaches and dollars in the future.

4) Keeping your garage door closed can help you protect your home and property.  If you must have your door open, lock the door between the home and garage.

5) Check the surroundings of the roller tracks.  Move items that may come in contact with a moving door such as a shovel, broom, etc.

As you can see…proper installation by trained & certified technicians is critical to the performance of the door and its warranty.  If you’re in Southeastern Wisconsin trust Joe Wilde Company to get the job done right the first time to ensure the safety of you and your family.
